The vineyards of Vétroz extend over the lower slopes ("1st zone") on the right bank of the Rhone and the alluvial cone of the Lizerne between Sion and Martigny in central Valais. The site is both geologically and climatically unique.
The richly diverse terroirs of Vétroz produce a great variety of wines whose finesse reflects the exceptional character of the climate and the varying characteristics of the soil. The white and the specialty varietals ripen on a slope with full southern exposure.
These terraced vineyards, made up of glacial moraine and black schist, lend the wine of Vétroz its unique character.
The vineyards of the Lizerne grow in an alluvial soil composed essentially of large pebbles. These stones absorb the heat of the sun and assure the perfect maturity of the red grapes (41%).
